The 2026 Jianxi District Mining Machinery Welding Skills Competition, sponsored by the Jianxi District Federation of Trade Unions and undertaken by CITIC IC Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., officially kicked off at the 6th-floor conference room of the company at 8:30 a.m. on October 20.

Liu Mingtao, Deputy Chairman of Jianxi District Federation of Trade Unions, Zhao Chuanpeng, Chairman of Zhongshi Heavy Machinery, He Huihui, Chairperson of the Company’s Trade Union, and Zhu Xuemei, Chief Referee of the competition, attended the opening ceremony. A total of 30 welders from four units competed in the event. At the ceremony, an outstanding staff representative delivered a statement. The participating leaders delivered mobilization speeches and expressed expectations for all contestants, encouraging them to compete well and show their best.

Following the opening ceremony, the theoretical written test was held first. Contestants thought calmly and answered the questions carefully. In the afternoon, the practical competition got underway in the riveting and welding workshop of the Heavy Complete Equipment Factory. With flying welding sparks and flashing arcs, the contestants followed operating specifications strictly and completed welding procedures in an orderly manner to compete in professional skills and exchange practical experience.

Upon the conclusion of the practical session, the judging panel inspected each welded specimen and scored them comprehensively in accordance with competition standards. First, second and third prizes were awarded eventually. At the award ceremony, leaders from the district trade union and the company presented certificates and prizes to the winners. Leaders and the chief referee then delivered summary comments. They spoke highly of the contestants’ performance and encouraged them to learn from the competition, sharpen their expertise, and play an exemplary leading role as technical backbones.

This welding skills competition builds a platform for welders to exchange techniques and learn from each other. It helps improve the professional competence of the welding team, strengthen the reserve of skilled talents, support the development of the industrial workforce in Jianxi District, and inject skilled momentum into the high-quality development of regional manufacturing.
